Remember: social change is always a bottom-up process. The candidates we get to vote for can reflect the fruits of real grass roots politics, such as Mamdani and AOC. The system makes it nearly impossible for outsiders to win big elections. Seeing a grassroots candidate in contention is amazing.

Right!? I honestly don’t think my mental health can handle a win from him right now even if he isn’t going to be my mayor. NYC is a microcosm in this moment, and we need a victory to hold on to any semblance of hope.
