Cleaner than you.
Cleaner than you.
It truly is the clearest body of water that I've seen.
Bigger too!
Crater Lake #1 Lake Tahoe #2 Lake Superior #3 Sorry Lake Superior 😉💙💙💙 All 3 are amazing
Aptly named. Who knew?
Maybe that’s because it’s also a Canadian lake.
Mmm, no that would be Crater Lake in Oregon. It's the clearest lake in the world. People can see down to about 120 feet (36 meters) with the naked eye from the surface. Lake Superior, can you do that?
You're conflating clear with clean. Clear lakes aren't always clean.
Nope, it's the cleanest also. It has no tributaries. NO TRIBUTARIES. All of its water is pure H20 from snowfall and rainfall (and that's high mountain unpolluted water). It's as clean as it gets. Lake Superior, can you claim the same.
Further, only row boats are allowed on it. It's a pristine as they come.
And yet, it's not even mentioned in the article.
So...?
lol, Luci blocked me bc I asked if clear always means clean. Literally that’s what I asked, that’s all
Don't tell Lee Zeldin.
Isn't Oregon in British Columbia?
We can hope ( a Washington Resident). We were part of the Oregon territory. The Nisqually trading post in DuPont, near my home was a HBC operated operation…does that count so we can join BC?
Moving to Bellingham in six weeks. I too want us to join BC. The sooner the better.
I love Bellingham. Darling little town.
Close
I wish.
Hardy har har. Just like Lake Superior is in Canada.
LOL. Also, #Cascadia now
😂. Lake Superior has an attitude. Superiority complex, if you will.
Apparently
Not yet...
Don't tell anybody where it is, corporations will destroy it
oh wow well fuck you too then lake superior 🙄 what, you think your superior to me or something?
Wow!!!
Have camped many times on Superior. It's breathtakingly gorgeous.
Beautiful! Truly beautiful! Psst: Don't tell the GOP! And especially not RFK, Jr.
With Duluth? I don't think so.
I'll be swimming in you tomorrow.
Not that clean....check DNR recommended amounts of fish to consume out of it
Heading your way in October!
Superior quality
We drink directly out of the lake with no treatment required. We have our water tested as per regulation and it always comes back with no issues.
I live in Michigan and this is absolutely true. Love our Great Lakes 💙
www.amazon.com/dp/B0FLMJNXYX
It is superior
You can walk in up to your chest, look down and clearly see your toes. It’s gorgeous!
Thank invasive Zebra Mussels for that level of clarity..
*shakes fist at invasive zebra mussels*
You clear magnificent bastard. Congrats.
Amazing. Especially considering so much of you is American.
Scientists can’t find clouds or blood samples that doesn’t have microplastics /forever chemicals, and all motor boats leave chemicals in the water. Some might call that pollution, but either way, kudos on having the least visible pollution. It’s still impressive.
cleaner’n’you are more like
With respect to the Ojibwe, it is Gitchee Gumee. www.poetrynook.com/poem/shores-...
Fascinating title for the article… as though Lake Superior isn’t bisected by an international border. 😏
Honestly, there's probably a cleaner lake in Canada.
You were swimming in the clean lake with your pals the other day
🤣🤣🤣 Lake Superior - you have a superior sense of humour… and that’s part of what I appreciates about you. 😉
SHHH. Don't tell anybody. People ruin things.
That's because if you try to pollute it, the spirit of Gichi-Gami sends a giant wave to suck you down into the depths to sleep with the Edmund Fitzgerald.
Clean? Only if we ignore the 29 corpses of the Edmund Fitzgerald. John Wick doesn't have 1/10 your body count.
As native Duluthian, I concur.
You're Duluthinal
Your quality is ... superior.
It just became a target in Trumps polluting America again agenda
One of MINNESOTA’S. Ten thousand
And how much of that is because of America, and how much is because of Canada?
Not for long is Shitler remains in power.
*if
Love this
Cleaner than any water found in Florida.
The gov literally paves roads with radioactive waste. I'll probably never go there again for the rest of my life.
Hey friend! We should push people to reach out to Gov. Whitmer to urge her to exclude the $50 million earmark to Wakefield Township for Copperwood Mine infrastructure from the 2026 budget so we can keep Superior clean.
Crater Lake is cleaner. Not navigable, but clean.
35% of Lake Superior is in Canadian territory
Biggest leaches I’ve ever seen.
Congratulations 👏 👏
Great kayaking
mostly a Canadian Lake, so ofcourse it is cleaner.
Thank the Gods most of the garbage Canadian mills, smelters and other industry were contributing is in the past.
Is this the big lake they call Gitche Gumee? I hear she never gives up her dead when the skies of November turn gloomy. 🤓
A rose by any other name, eh? Mr Superior?
"Zero pollution"? Souds like it doesn't need all that air
Even so, I still filter the water before drinking, because, you know, moose tend to piss in the pool, or worse. ;)
Imagine what fish do. 🤔
That too.
Wow!
So glad I visited you this summer! Kayaking at Pictured Rocks was magical—like floating thru a flooded Utah national park. So many life-list birds, and petting a sturgeon at the Duluth Aquarium was unreal
Slay King
RFK jr free zone
🤫🤫🤫🤫 Fuck's sake don't tell everybody, we'll never get rid of them!
not a high bar
And coooooold AF. I lived a summer on an island in da UP and Lake Michigan was my bathtub. That fucker was cold! Imagine how much colder it is swimming in Lake Superior
And it never gives up its dead.
And far superior. I know my limitations, flaws, and inabilities. That said, this is awesome, never gave it much thought, but maybe well worth a visit (clean me, if not smarter me).
Slew of tourists now occur... Leave their shit behind... Keep humans out.
When you jump into lake Superior you don't get wet Lake Superior gets you.
It's so cold, you actually jump out before getting wet.
I believe you mean the 🇺🇸/🇨🇦 Lake ❓🙄
Well water tested in NC. No PFAS. No undesirables. Perfect as it gets. Lab wondered where this place was.
how's the fish?
Lake Superior is not really a lake… it’s an inland sea.
the great lakes are lakes due to them being freshwater instead of saltwater! if they were saltwater, theyd be considered inland seas :D
Inland seas tend to be brackish. Less salty than oceans, more salty than freshwater
While not officially classified as a sea due to its freshwater composition and lack of connection to the ocean like true seas, its sheer scale and the characteristics associated with large bodies of water contribute to Lake Superior being informally called an inland sea.
Right. So not a sea then.
Nice try, Tahoe is by far cleaner.
I dove in Superior once, maybe 40 years ago. And at 110 it was pretty clear then.
What's your problem with minerals?
The best lake.
I just read somewhere that (can't recall, but I thought it legit) that even Superior is polluted with PFAS. Which makes me sad beyond belief, as I adore Superior.
You just think you're *so* Superior.
