Vintage Friday: HNoMS Trondheim of the Oslo class of ASW frigates, commissioned in 1966. The class was based on the US Dealey class destroyer escorts, with some customisation for North Sea use and several Norwegian subsystems, like the Penguin SSM and Terne ASW rocket system.

Norwegian frigate Trondheim with pennant number F302 sailing near a coastline with overcast weather. All ships in the class were built at the Navy Main Yard in Horten, Norway between 1964 and 1966. The construction of the vessels was part of the Navy rebuilding program, approved by the Norwegian government in 1960. Half of the project expenses were funded by the United States as a part of the Mutual Defense Assistance Program (MDAP) (a program that ran from when it was passed by the Congress in October 1949 until 1967–68).

Perhaps the Type 26 frigate will be a new City-class for Norway too.
