I'm actually quite relaxed about celeb books - if they're good books and actually written by the person (or if there's a co writer credited) but the last para almost killed me. It's AI that I fear not celebs.

I know what you mean & it's a funny article & I don't stress about celebs either but I do passionately believe they deserve to have the piss ripped out of them. They may be richer & more successful, but truth is, I'm better at this job than them. I'm less worried about AI because it's not very good.

The slavering enthusiasm I have heard from some publishing CEO about AI is what worries me. And the fact that publishing bad books has never stopped those books selling.

I think it's a party that looks good in pictures. The booze is free and you can find fun people to talk to but it's not as far as I'm concerned, an actual party. It's a corporate event. That said, I'm grateful to BigCat who have invited me for the last few years.

I object to the assumption that kids books are “easy”, and I object to the amount of publicity and marketing breathing space they inhale. I’m sure the cozy mystery writers feel the same way. Otherwise, some of the books aren’t bad. Some definitely are tho.
