It was extraordinary for its time. I think Villeneuve showed you just couldn’t do the book justice with a single film.
so do I
Agree with your choice. I don't think Dune is an adaptable text, but cheesy as it is, Lynch's version is the best imo.
Sure, the Villeneuve films are "technically" better, but they have 100% less Kyle MacLachlan, Patrick Stewart, Dean Stockwell, Sean Young, Brad Dourif and gold-bikini clad Sting.
(plus...Linda Hunt, Max von Sydow, Jose Ferrer, Virginia Madsen and child-Alicia Witt)
Dune (1984) is one of my all-time fave films. Just on the eyebrows alone. It's got Picard charging into battle holding a pug!
They do pretty much weekly showings at the Prince Charles, I don't think you're in a minority any more.
GOOD.
FATHER! THE SLEEPER HAS AWOKEN! …is something I don’t occasionally cry at work, why would any-one do that, sounds crazy.
GIVE ME! THE SPICE! (in the voice) is mine
I was never here. This conversation never took place.
WORM SIGN is something I own on an actual t-shirt.
NICE
Challenge; Say ”My brother is coming for you, Baron” With-out doing the voice.
Not physically possible
I love that movie, and I'm not afraid to say it. Because, you know, fear is the mind killer. Fear is the little death...
Yes!
