A thing I keep thinking about is how Lee Corso never would've gotten that job today. Networks lean heavily into hiring big names over actual TV talent, people who view the job as just a job. Lee viewed the role as more than that. Perhaps there's a lesson there.

When the show started, they wanted people who actually loved college football to get viewers excited to watch. It took off so now they want the flash and name recognition more than people who actually like the game itself. Not saying there aren’t any now, but Corso was/is unabashedly a CFB lover.

Pat McAfee wasn't a big name before he made himself a big name, at least for TV standards. Lee would have to promote the hell out of himself -- become an "influencer" (hate that tag), but could be hired for daring to be different and college football swagger.
