Going on holiday tomorrow and looking for some last-minute popular-scientific book suggestions along the lines of "Proof" by Adam Kucharski, "Everything is obvious" by Duncan Watts and "Brief answers to the big questions" by Stephen Hawking. Any suggestions?

Shameless plug for The Star Builders: aeturrell.com/thestarbuild... Other ideas: I found WTF! by Leeson an unexpected read, & always recommend the Tim Harford books.

Thanks, these seem really cool! Unfortunately, my book shop doesn't have them in stock, but I'll put them on my list for when I'm back :)

Hope it’s not too late to recommend Infinite Powers, by @stevenstrogatz.com . It’s fun and very well written!

I am currently read 'Poor Economics', which is quite nicely written. 'White Holes' or 'Seven Brief lessons on Physics' from Carlo Rovelli are also some nice reads. Otherwise, 'Viral Storm' from Nathan Wolfe. And if you like it a bit crazy, then 'Tripped' or 'Blitzed' from Normen Ohler can be nice.

I guess they have to be rather recent, because I'm too late to order anything, and can only visit the local book shop.
