This is sickening. You can see the driver accelerate to try to merge between the cars on their right, then give up and crash into the cyclist. And then leaving the scene!

I am not condoning what the truck driver did, but why are these two bicyclists in the middle of the road? This stretch of road has a bike lane, which is the only acceptable place for these bikes to be riding.

It looks like they’re riding on the Morrison bridge headed toward downtown, I don’t think there’s a bike lane there. That’s also right after the I-5 off-ramp merges from the right, so my guess is they started from SE Morrison St and were staying left to avoid the merging traffic

There are no bike lanes on the Morrison Bridge. There is a shared path on the south side that is only accessible from the East Bank Esplanade.

That shared path is the only acceptable portion of this bridge for bikes. See ORS 814.430 for clarification how these two bike riders were in violation of Oregon traffic laws.
