This always gets me. Lots of children in Scotland are saved from accidents by daylight savings. It means they can walk to school when it's not pitch black and drivers see them.

In Scotland in the summer time the sun rises at 4am and sets about 10.45 pm. We don’t need dsylight savings time. In fact when they experimented with BST all the year round it did not get light in Scotland until 10am. We had to walk to school on the dark and wear reflective clothing to stay safe

In the middle of winter I go to work in the dark, it gets light about 9am and I go home in the dark , it gets dark at 3.30 . With BST all year round it would get light at 10 am and dark at 4.30 . I would still go to and come back in the dark.

The sun still rises and sets at the same time. It is just our artificial overlay based on clocks that changes. If it is so hard just stay in bed longer or go to bed earlier. If you travel more than a few hundred km east or west of your home the "times" change anyway.
