Damn. Sorry to hear that. :( Please come hang out and eat breadsticks.
Haha - I just kinda got out of the habit! Time to start again.
Aw fuck, saw the layoffs today and was worried you were gonna be hit. Sorry to hear this :/
It was a hell of an honor working with you! I loved all of the hardware talk, I'm gonna miss it.
Likewise. Though your hardware was a lot bigger than mine.
Bridges! I'm referring to bridges. Civil engineering. I should maybe read what I write before hitting send...
Sorry to hear that — it was clear as day to anyone who would hear you talk about RR that you enjoyed helping build it. :/
Sorry to hear this Tom, a LOT of it about at the moment as you know. You have a great skill set though so here’s to finding that role that aligns with your wants around enjoyable graphic challenges!
That truly sucks, sorry you got laid off. I hope that RR can find a path to sustainability in the future.
It's a shame. I had just finished a total rewrite of the UGC rendering stack (called Dynamic Experience Quality) - it rolled out a few weeks ago and it's looking really good. I'm glad it's out there and working, but it would have been nice to really tune it well for each of the platforms.
I've also been working on a new terrain rendering system. An early version is currently shipping I think, but we had a much better version almost ready to go. No idea if that will ever ship - I hope it does - some of the landscapes are really pretty.
But yeah, easily the nicest company and the best bunch of people I've ever worked with. If you see anybody with Rec Room on their resume, bump them to the top of the list.
I do have some options, and a fair bit of time, and I should see what's out there. I would prefer to work on something fun and graphics-related with some good people, rather than going for high salary or managing folks. So if you have a role like that you think I'd enjoy, give me a ping.
Hey Tom, I have a position you might be interested in at my company. Would you like to DM me?
Oh no, I'm so sorry :(
Sorry to hear. On the flip side, somebody will get a brilliant chance to work with you
Gah that sucks, condolences to you and the team. Sounds like it was a rad place and you did some awesome work there.
aw man :(
Ah man... bummed for you and them... lovely group of talented people all around.
Darn, sorry :-(
WHAT, noooooooooooo come on :(
Sorry to hear that mate.
Thats sad to hear, but good at the same time that you have options. Hope you find something fun and worthwhile!
That sucks. Hope you find your next thing quickly. (Or slowly, if that's what you want right now.)
Absolutely brutal out there right now, sorry to hear man.
