But why use a straw at all?

It depends on WHAT you’re drinking & WHERE. I don’t know how else to neatly drink a frappe/milkshake. A straw helps keep messy stains off your teeth. If I’m in the car, I prefer a straw so I don’t end up spilling a drink all over myself. If it’s water, then no straw is necessary.

It’s either a Coke or Water in the car, Erik.🙄 Also…I don’t drink alcohol…at all. Sugar is my vice, not alcohol.

I understand. I don’t drink any kind of sweet drinks, but sometimes wine when I am not driving.

Kudos to You! I WISH I could give up Sugary Drinks! Actually, it’s probably the Caffeine I crave…but I can’t stand the bitter taste of Coffee.

It's good if you're driving and don't want to spill other than that there's no use for straws

Some of us with sensitive teeth need them.

Yes! Very good point. My Top Left Incisor has “nothing” wrong with it, but if a cold drink hits it…😖😵. FYI…Sensodyne Toothpaste is FANTASTIC!

Never thought of that! I don’t think I’ve used a straw since the ‘60’s when I was a kid. But in Oz it was waxed paper straws anyway

Well, sometimes glasses in a bar or restaurant aren‘t really clean. A straw could prevent you from getting oral herpes for example.

O.M.G.😳 Like I don’t already have ENOUGH phobias about public spaces. NOW I’ve gotta think about whose mouth was on the rim of MY “clean” glass. #PaperStrawPlease #NeverLeavingTheHouseAgain

I am sorry!😅 But have you never sent a glass back to the bar because you could still see the lip prints of the person who used it before you? Like, from lipstick?

You’re right! THAT (Lipstick on the Rim) has happened to my husband COUNTLESS times. It’s ALWAYS my husband. And it’s always the SAME shade of bright pink lipstick!😆 I never really worried for myself because it was always on the same type of white coffee cup…& I don’t drink coffee.🤣 #IAmAnIdiot☕

You have a point of course but many drinks don’t go well through a straw. Like beer or coffee.

Yup. In order to avoid anymore pink lipstick stained coffee cups, my husband now only has water or a Coke WITH A STRAW when we’re in restaurants.🤣

My father has difficulty swallowing and straws really help, and paper straws just don't work.

As we get older, swallowing is DEFINITELY an issue. You’re right. Some paper straws are weak. Whenever I have no choice (fast food restaurant) but a Plastic Straw, I always cut it vertically & then into little pieces. It doesn’t solve the problem, but it’s an effort to minimize damage to sea life.

Gotta look into Phade Straws. I usually use Reusable Aluminum Straws with a Silicone/Rubber Tip. They’re really good if you’re at home because you just toss them in the sink. They come with a Scrubber Brush too.
