It also told him repeatedly to seek help. You can't focus on one response and ignore the rest.

I was that kid. I was fortunate enough to be too old for this so instead I had human friends that were online only but were still actual humans who encouraged me to talk to my parents & not hurt myself. They certainly never told me not to talk to my mom abt my feelings.

I was too. And I didn't have any support when I was in crisis. I just got lucky.

And that’s wrong. Our system needs to be better. Adults should listen to kids & our culture should actually glorify working on our shit instead of ignoring it and pushing through. We need to change our society’s entire perspective on mental health, esp in children.
