It looks like a face
Beautiful, the sky never gets old.
It even has a Gulf of Mexico
Following based on it!! Can’t wait to see more!! ty!
Striking and beautiful!
What's the costs on this, in the context of having a niece who is a budding astronomer and lives far enough in the sticks in Minnesota that the light pollution is quite low. Is this a cool uncle gift or a second mortgage on the house gift.
Excellent!!
Neat!
Great capture. I'm just a spectator, so when I saw "264mm wide" I thought diameter. (Not focal length). I was imagining something 7 feet long weighing 100kg. After I googled, I had an a-hah moment. We never stop learning 😊👍
This is my fault; I used the focal length of the new scope and the aperture of the old one, which is more than confusing. The old scope has an aperture of 8" (~200mm) and a focal length of 1280mm (with focal reducer in place). The new refractor has an aperture of 55mm and a focal length of 264mm.
🏆🏆🏆
Fabulous! When I see these pictures from outer space, I wonder how much he really ever cared if you ate meat on Friday..
That's beautiful!
Fantastic! Thank you for sharing.
Cool
Great photo!
Sorry for the confusion; I listed the focal length of the new scope and the aperture of the old one. The old catadioptric has an aperture of 8" (~200mm) and a focal length of 1280mm (with focal reducer in place). The new refractor has an aperture of 55mm and a focal length of 264mm.
not a problem. I was a visual observer with an 8" aperture Lightbridge. I still think with your setup the Witch's Head nebula is a natural. With the Lightbridge I could see her head and her broomstick. (on a really good night and a little averted vision and possibly imagination.)
I will definitely give the Witch Head nebula a try.
So beautiful.
VERY cool!
Very cool
Fantastic!
Astronomical beauty! Exquisite 📸 Thanks 4 sharing.
Great pic
That is beautiful!!!!!
perhaps a typo, did you mean to say you got yourself a cute little 49.77 inch refractor? Typo or not that is a fine image. With that type of power you might give the Witch Had Nebula a try?

I understood about half of that but I'm definitely turned on! 😱
I remember when I also got a wide field refractor to complement my imaging with my C9.25. It was like a breath of fresh air! It astonished me how how less the demands on the mount are with a focal length that small. The summer sky was made for wide field. :)
That is simply awesome!
So cool!
There’s a big hole in the Mid West but that figures.
Gorgeous. Nicely processed, too! What software do you use?
Thanks! I use SharpCap + CPWI to capture the images (SharpCap because I like live-stacking, and CPWI because I have a Celestron AVX mount). I use GraXpert and Siril for postprocessing. Sometimes I touch up the image in LightRoom 6, but I didn't bother doing that for either of these images.
Oh sure, make me look up words.
Wow!
I feel like you just made up a lot of those words.
What a wonderful view! Thank you for sharing with us.This is a very special treat.
That’s some picture!!!!
If you haven't watched it yet, watch the movie Cosmos. While a bit slow and with a few cheesy bits, it is a really good flick, especially considering they made it for under $10,000. m.imdb.com/title/tt4477...
New one on me. I'll add it to my list.
SO BEAUTIFUL. 🥰
i understood none of this, yet delighted in reading each word 😊 the image is wonderful
Stunning!
I think I see Mufasa
Wow! I got a field dollar Goodwill telescope and a phone that doesn't like focusing on a lens. I get wild pics like this! The fourth was a Samsung phone, I like the Google Pixel, but it doesn't do a macro focus.
Five dollar. Not field. I typed way too much to start the post over, though.
😮 Wow!
Beautiful.
