Then we asked them to think of a service project and they suggested repainting their gathering space because it’s an ugly color or building a bench to donate to someone(?). 😕

It seems clear that our current culture and media do a great job of making them aware of problems and also of engendering helplessness when it comes to acting on those problems.

So, in the three years before these kids become adults, I’m dreaming of helping them act on their awareness out in the community.
