I found your article dis-spiriting but in April I had this out with the readers' editor to no avail. Could the Observer at least print a proper results page to complement the journalism: attendance, goal scorers, refs and oh...Scottish Championship, leagues 1 and 2 exist as well Paul.
Man can not live on sidebars alone and in football it means concentration on same five prem clubs the rhythm of newspaper deadlines - now also getting it online first - still dictates a lot of writing. And the Yorkshire Evening post was fetching shade of green, not vulgar pink like the rest.
Bought the paper and read online as well! I love having the physical but I agree with your quoted friend - I'll only buy/read about Football if the writer is good (imo, obvs) or has something interesting to say. I'll continue to buy as long as decent writers continue to write.
