scarmiglione also appears in one of the castlevania games, but its name in the ingame bestiary was incorrectly translated as Skull Millione (or something like that, i dont remember exactly)

Yep. I can only assume they went down the Malebranche list and picked names that fit the designs they'd already made, or something to that effect.

Brienne and a link to my bsky works. No clue on Calcabrina, though. It does definitely fit, though! Maybe whatever source they used actually had a translation for that one and it was in fact picked for the "light-footed" assocation.

Also might be because it sounds the most like two names, with the splitting gimmick? Looking at the complete Malebranche the only other alternative I can really see is Farfa & Rella, which doesn't quite roll off the tongue like Calca & Brina.
