Minnesota friends! Me and my husband are planning a trip to visit the Twin Cities to see if we like the culture and might want to move there. What do you insist we should see/do while there?

Its been quite a few years since I visited but I remember many of the museums and art galleries had free days / times! 🖼️

If youve never seen the missippi river, walking or biking along the Grand Rounds Scenic Byway is lovely!

I always want people to visit the Minnehaha Falls park. Even in their agèd condition our parks system is so much more worthy of attention than the Mall of America or whatevs

In that vein, a walk around lake Bde Maka Ska (or any in the chain of lakes) is great. I’m happy to recommend restaurants too

How limited mobility friendly are the parks? I have some joint issues and I have to take breaks, but I like a nice trail walk. And yes please for restaurants!

The falls are decent for limited mobility but you won’t be able to get as close as you could. It’s paved with no stairs. Trip down from parking lot is a little steep. Twin lakes walk is paved all the way around with little to no incline change. Very accessible for limited mobility.

I’ll just say that eating out up here is generally a bit more expensive than in it was in TX and AR, where I’m familiar. I’m not sure of your budget but expect 10-15% more per meal. The wings at Runyon’s live up to the hype. We really like Pizza Luce (several locations) if you want sit-down pizza

We love Lush Lounge if you’re looking for a queer vibe. It’s more of a cocktail bar and drag bar but not super fancy and not super gay male centric. Drag bingo is a fun, inexpensive weekend afternoon activity. Tony is more familiar with Northeast than us but Dream Creamery in NE has great burgers

It’s definitely not a touristy part of town but Jensen’s Cafe in Burnsville and Fat Nat’s in New Hope are our favorite breakfast places. You’ll need a car to get to either. If you’re checking out Uptown, Darbar India Grille is good. Would you like indie book store reccs? Twin Cities has so many

If you’re looking for a TEC church to visit (as a former Episcopalian lol) I think you’d really like St. Clement’s on Summit Ave in Saint Paul. Very queer. Still lots of masking the last time we visited. Queer clergy. But also @cebm.bsky.social’s church All Saints in Northfield is delightful
