i'd like to start a new subculture for people like me who are apartment dwellers and aren't allowed to have a gas or charcoal grill. we'll be like barbecue guys only for microwaves. we'll wear shirts to work that say "i'd rather be microwavin'!" and share microwave steak recipes and stuff

My instincts tell me to go with an air-fryer subculture, but then you can't watch the food do spinny things like the microwave—which is just good, clean fun. Maybe once a month we go with pressure cookers to add in the risk of explosions to replicate the fireworks we can't light off?

What is it with grilling? My husband got a new grill and utensils this year. He set up shade, table, and chairs. He's used the grill twice so far this year for about 30 min each time. We ate inside at the dining room table both times. It's kind of like the garden he visits for 10 min once a day 🤔

I live in an apartment complex on a river and all the grill guys just grill down by the river during the day. Apartment life doesn't stop them.

Cast iron skillet plus toaster over. I (now) have a grill, but I still "grill" chicken on the skillet, finish it in the oven, and am done in like 10 minutes.
the slightest bit of smoke in anyone's kitchen will cause our entire building to be evacuated we've had the fire department show up because someone was boiling water and there was enough water vapor to set off a detector i wish we could safely use cast iron

foreman grills are life changing, mine broke so I got a new one that can unhinge its jaw for sandwiches like scooby doo which is incredible for when you want a sandwich with lines on it
You run a 1000 watt at 85% power? You got an appointment you're late to buddy? You gotta stick to either 800 at 85 or 1000 at 65
Watt maxing is where it’s at. I have mine overclocking and I can cook an egg in 2-3 seconds.
God, kids these days. Back when wavin was great you had one friend MAYBE with a 1000 watter, now all these new fangled OC micros pull enough watts to cook an elephant. You don’t even appreciate the sag your french fries could be getting on a classic 800 watt.
I use my air fryer as my grill substitute. It works surprisingly well.
