A blackbird has flown off with the whole fat ball from the window feeder. How do they do that?? The bluetits are looking confused.

I watch it happen every day. I’m going to have to start using suet pellets instead.

I've got suet pellets in a caged hanging feeder. The little birds love it!

Mine have flown off with them, squirrels too, so we've put a cage over our suet ball feeders, that doesn't stop the corvids but 🤷🏻 We diverted our blackbird's with green grapes.

I tried giving the blackbirds dried fruit but they prefer whole suet balls.

Mine don't go for dried fruit either, got to be fresh grapes. We had an almost tame (we always have cats too) blackbird called Olivier (after the rugby forward Olivier Merle) and he was actually asking for them. Had about 14 broods from 3 males this year, all stuffing themselves with grapes.
