Florida and is apparently a registered Republican. www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025...
I heard she registered as a republican. It's just that depending on where one lives, specifically the local partisan lean plus whether primaries are open or closed, registering can be basically meaningless
As I and the article noted she is registered as a Republican in Florida.
Closed primaries + one of the worst gerrymanders in the country mean a lot of people will register for a party to vote for or against random locals in a primary, maybe higher offices too if it's a swing district. Just not the sort of thing from which I'd feel confident drawing conclusions
She doesn’t vote apparently so I doubt that voting in the primary is the reason she registered the way she did and she literally threw her mom a MAGA themed birthday party. None of which are “normie lib” things to do.
If she doesn't vote, then for all i know, she registered because she thought it would help her brand. Having a maga mom is sadly quite normie, and lots of libs or leftists choose to maintain ties with maga family. Idk about *throwing* the maga party, but maybe if they had Sweeney's net worth?
For someone who doesn’t have “skin in the game” you are going to great lengths to justify her actions. She moved to Florida in 2024 and registered as a Republican that is not “normie lib” behavior no how many excuses you provide for her.
I don't have skin in the game on Sidney Sweeney in particular. I do have skin in the game-we all do-of determining what epistemic standards we should use before making up our minds that someone is fascist.
This is a post saying she is probably a “Normie lib” which was the “feeling you got” even though you pay no attention to her, you are the one moving goalposts:
If by "changing the goalposts" you mean that I started out shitposting and then when you took my shitpost seriously, made a serious response about how your reasons for believing what you do provide insufficient warrant then...sure, I did that.
Not saying she's a great person. Just saying there are enough people out there who espouse fascism beyond a reasonable doubt that we don't need to spend time thinking about people for whom reasonable doubt persists. If someone really is fash, they'll eventually tell you in no uncertain terms.
You seem to be spending much more time thinking and justifying her actions than most.
There are enough celebrities wearing actual maga hats and explicitly endorsing fascism that how someone registers in a closed primary state just doesn't make it onto my radar
