Always and forever Mandy... until he makes something even more unhinged. Not *if* he does. *When* he does.
yuss
I'm not saying more unhinged, but if you haven't seen "Vampire's Kiss" it is also as close to Full Cageβ’οΈ as one can get π
Putting a recommendation for Bad Lieutenant: PoCNO as well in this vein
Family Man and National Treasure (the first one)

"The Rock." My favorite Nicholas Cage movie, largely because of his chemistry with Sean Connery; the two of them have the best ersatz father/son rapport I've seen in an action film since Ford/Connery in "Indiana Jones & the Last Crusade."
Now there's a movie begging for a 4k release

Lord of War.

Ohhh, Lord of War is excellent!
I dislike Cage in general, but I was pretty cool with him in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. The movie was excellent, and he didnβt use his usual βlow-rent Brandoβ voice.
heheh
What I'm learning from this is that I need to watch a lot more Brando movies.
One time when my wife suffered a broken neck she hid these Nick Cage pictures around the house when she went for surgery. Just to keep me grounded. That's love.

Raising Arizona or my name ain't Nathan Arizona!

Willy's Wonderland. I want a franchise of the silent drifter just wandering into different horror pastiches, doing his best, then shrugging and moving on.
Heck yes, I was about to suggest this! Not generally a fan of movies, but thoroughly enjoyed Willyβs Wonderland. Always take your breaks during work, folks!
one of my favs also very re watchable
Adaptation. I'm still upset he didn't get the Oscar for it.

Red Rock West was one of those movies I saw in college, and haven't seen since, but I'm pretty sure it is the best movie he ever made, despite the fact I never saw it a second time. It's definitely the movie where he did the most one-arm pushups in the opening sequence. So there's that.
Rewatched it recently. Still great.

Knowing, and I will die on that hill. A really great look at free will vs determinism wrapped in a nice little thriller.
I probably pick a different one every time, but today Iβll say βThe Color Out of Space,β which I just saw for the first time last week.
Adaptation.
Followed by Mandy, which is incredible.
One other person has mentioned Mandy. Motherfuckers, watch Mandy.

Into the Spiderverse.
Always.

I love The Family Man.

There is one correct answer, because Nick Cage pretending to be John Travolta while John Travolta pretends to be Nicholas Cage while they have ridiculous gunfights where white doves fly out of the room symbolically and swat empties entire magazines into public buildings is PEAK cinema.
yassss
I only ask, have you seen Drive Angry, because otherwise I agree with you π―
Pieces of that movie are incredibly fun. Pieces of that movie make me sad I'm not watching it in 3D any time I'm watching it. And pieces of that feel less "wonderfully camp" and more like that kid who wants you to THINK they have an "edgy personality and sense of humor" but are really just an ass.
I think that's a fair assessment. There are definitely weak parts of the script, but his performance is so over the top, it's magical for me.

Ooh, I'll go a little obscure and say 8MM. Exceedingly dark story and a terrific cast in addition to the Cage man.
James Gandalfini is also great in this. An utterly BRUTAL, viscerally unsettling, but beautifully crafted neo-noir from Joel Schumacher.
The one that meets the βdo you still watch it if you catch it on TBS on Saturday afternoon and itβs already 45 minutes inβ test is National Treasure. Orβand this is even more middlebrow than National Treasure:
