I figure, if Villar is hitting great in spring training, the team could use him in the infield. Sabol, I don't think they want to use him anywhere defensively.
I live in Sacramento and watched Sabol quite a bit. He’s improved a lot behind the dish. I know they want the backup catcher to hit right-handed to complement Bailey, but I still think he could have stayed on the 40 over someone else.
I would have liked to have seen Sabol get more time at 1st base. He was not good as an outfielder, was an ok emergency catcher but he needs a new main position, much like Luciano. The latter seems headed for the outfield. Villar just needs to hit better.
they might figure sabol is more likely to clear waivers
