anyway, to the extent that they're operating out of -fear- of Trump himself and not just "don't upset the base or we'll lose our jobs," I'd say that's gonna be lessened significantly under Pants. plus idk how well the voting base holds when Fearless Leader is gone, based on those town halls.

Vance doesn't have the core "personality cult" support Trump does. Really Vance has no popularity of his own at all! But nothing he'd want to do would be anything the GOP base wouldn't like! They vote for these guys for a reason.

If anything (we can hope) GOP officials are MORE likely to break publicly with Trump than they would be with Vance, because Trump keeps insisting on doing weird destabilizing shit (see: all his trade policy, the Fed stuff) that isn't even "GOP Normal" and the voters don't care about or don't like.

I can't predict better than anyone else, but I'm more than ready to find out at this point. I might have said yes given that they've been pretty coordinated on the Newt Gingrich "if a Dem wants it then 'no', even if it was our bill to begin with," but Mitch kept that together a lot tbh

I worked in an industrial print shop for a while and there were huge humidifiers mounted on the ceiling above the presses to keep the air from being too dry or whatever. The company name printed on them was “American Moistening”. That will be Vance’s next book.
