i feel like i've gotten a frame for it all between narcissistic abuse and cult studies (same diff really, just at scale) "how to fix it" is, well. Slowly and painstakingly, at best. It seems.

but as far as well meaning people falling into shit they find online or in media, repetition matters a lot more than the quality of the info, I think, unfortunately.
Yeah by some major coincidence these are some of the more abuser personality type relatives. As far as the fix, i was thinking someone needs to invent an empathy transplant. But I’m sure this crowd would find a way to link it to autism.
I think part of it is--well, some people just want to divide rigidly by ideology and/or affinity group first and foremost, which tends to result in a lot of splitting. Other people have a lot more idealism than I do that you can, and should, be able to have dialogue with *anybody*.
Well, it takes two (at least). I'd like more well meaning people to be more discerning. I'm not saying anyone does it perfectly, me very much included god knows, but yeah some people are in fact unreachable. Can't or won't, idk, the point is, they don't.
there's a direct connection between "we should all be able to break down differences and just TALK to each other!" and "you'll regret it one day; she IS your mother (father, brother, etc)" Not really. Not always. If you don't know, you don't, but please take people at their word.
A.R. Moxon wrote this recently on that connection. I see he just wrote something on arrogant ignorance that I’m guessing will be highly relevant to the “I do my own research” people in my life. www.the-reframe.com/change-the-l...
