As a big Star Wars fan i surprisingly haven't watched a lot of Star wars under Disney. The sequels were a big disappointment to me so I just stopped catching up with shit. I'm happy to say that I still have a lot of good awaiting me. If there is one thing in this world i always crave its Star Wars.
My issue with Disney is that there is basically zero direction, and they have no idea who their audience are and what they want and are constantly fighting to make Star Wars a Disney creation rather than a Lucas one, and thats a legacy they'll never escape from.
This is why i am never expecting them to return to form, not truly. With every hit they seem to have 3 fails every single time these days. I liked Mandalorian but then Book of bobafett and The acolyte was meh. I liked Obi wan kenobi but i was also disappointed in half of that too.
Yeah. Andor, Clone wars and rebels, were i think the only episodic productions that were consistent in their quality. Mando tailed off badly in the 3rd season, doing what Disney does best in trying to spin off with new characters that we'll never see again 🤷
I have not even seen season 3 of the mandalorian. First 2 seasons were fantastic.. did they really mess that up? 😔
I just felt that The Mandalorian became a side story in his own show in an attempt to create a connection between other shows, and as a stepping stone to more characters and shows that inevitably didn't get off the drawing board.
I am hoping the success of Andor has helped them figure out that audience. Not that everything needs to be like Andor, and an element of Star Wars should always have a younger audience in mind, but it’s nice to keep the audience that grew up with the older films engaged too. I like the sequels tho.
The secret to anything that's deemed as family entertainment is making sure that the adults as well as children are equally entertained. It's why, in the past, Star Wars, Star Trek, Harry Potter, etc, were so popular and culturally significant 🤷
And even the muppets. But yeah I totally agree.
Rebels is the definitive Star Wars story imo, my absolute favorite thing Star Wars. Ahsoka is the continuation of that story brought to life in live action, it's awesome, can't wait for S2. Andor is the best produced/written/acted Star Wars has ever been, it's truly spectacular. Bad Batch is so fun.
I LOOOOOOOOVED Clone wars once i got to season 3 all the way until the end except for maybe s6. So Rebels has to hit for me as well. I keep hearing that about Andor. I once watched 1 episode of Andor and didnt continue for some reason.
Bad Batch spins directly out of the final season of Clone Wars and Rebels is a spiritual sequel of Clone Wars, you'll like em both Andor is broken up into mostly 3-episode arcs and had a 3-episode premiere, you gotta watch at least the first 3 before putting it down imo.
Thank you. I will def go back to Andor but I think I wanna watch the other 3 shows first. Though im mighty curious about Andor due to its extremely high praise.
It's truly amazing. It's easily in my Top 10 shows of all-time next to like Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones etc
