Just because the GOP finds some Indians useful absolutely doesn’t mean they agree with Modi about high caste Hindus being “Aryan” Also I wouldn’t assume they know or care about Hindu vs Muslim or the fine gradations of the caste system when they look at an Indian person in the first place
What I’m saying is before Trump fucked him he could have had perfectly reasonable belief that upper caste Americans would be fine with upper caste Indians because-they fairly obviously are.

Finding someone a useful idiot (this actually goes both ways between Trump/Modi but we’re talking about the GOP here) doesn’t mean 1) considering them equally human 2) considering them the Nazis’ favorite code word for “white” or ->
3) extending the tolerance shown for specific members of a demographic who make good useful idiots to encompass every member of that demographic, especially when 4) that demographic sees gradations in themselves (like caste) that the other side doesn’t understand
Yeah the gop membership doesn’t know the difference between Modi and Abu from the Simpsons neither does Trump generally but he does recognize that Modi “runs his country with an Iron fist” he’s seen Modi’s crowds in the states and in India. That he respects
