A *lot* of these kinds of people have recently been let go, either as a direct result of DOGE cuts or fallout from grant cancellations, etc.

Yeah, I was thinking that higher ed might be an attractive sector for former federal workers. But jobs in higher ed are harder to come by.

Bad timing...HE is in collapse itself. Major wave of layoffs and budget cuts just happened. Huge revenue declines coming from reduction in international student enrollment. I'm in HE and constantly look out for state jobs bc mine could get cut at any time.
