When I was growing up, all bread was based on sourdough. Only rolls and baguettes were made with yeast. And lots of sweet bakes. And that’s 70s and 80s Poland. Not centuries ago. I still recall people who visited the UK complaining about crap plastic white bread (the sliced kind).
But it really is down to what you buy. If you buy crap, you eat crap. It’s astonishing to me that someone can look at the abundance of choice we have these days, and still find something to complain about. Especially in such a blatantly disingenuous manner as that Pearson bint above.
I love a milk bread! Fabulous sandwich bread! I make them all the time - and they are vastly superior to the terrifying things in the plastic at the supermarket.
