Have to wonder if hamas regrets not handling over the hostages of the bloody war they initiated, or if their propaganda outcomes are more important than the ongoing and longterm suffering they have caused.

I suspect the latter. Israel fell into what is coined "The Terrorist Trap" and have now committed an act so terrible that they have lost most if not all moral high ground they may have had. We did an episode on this context pod.fo/e/b55ac

Acknowledge the trap set by the now dead leadership. However, if the current leadership hope to benefit, they would be wise to adopt a different manifesto and mindset. When the dust settles, the challenge will be garnering longterm solace and rebuilding assurances.
