Hidden Order by Brad Thor Random grab at work b/c I didn't have a book. A fair but fantastical military thriller. 12th in a series, didn't fell I was missing anything by jumping in here. Ultimately it's GWOT porn written by a right-wing author with no military experience.

The cover for Hidden Order, a thriller by #1 New York Times bestselling author Brad Thor.

Old Man's War by John Scalzi This was a reread of a paperback my brother gifted me years ago. It's still a great book, following one man as he plunges into military service in a science fiction setting. It explores love beyond death, what it is to be one's self, the effects of violence, and more.

Killing Floor by Lee Child The first Reacher novel, which I read because I enjoyed Alan Ritchson in the role on streaming. I was impressed, in hindsight, how closely the show adapted this specific novel in its first season. One might be tempted to skip this due to that fact, but IMO it's worth it.

Cover for the paperback of Killing Floor by Lee Child, the first Reacher novel. The cover notes that this is a #1 New York Times bestselling series, and that you can watch Reacher on Amazon Prime Video. The cover is black letters on a white background, with only a bloody, read handprint marring the pristine background.

Arcana Academy by Elise Kova Billed as a Dark Academia Romantasy, I won an ARC on Goodreads. I did enjoy it, but was definitely not a complete story, even disappointingly ending on a cliffhanger. No idea if/when I'll read the 2nd as she's still writing it. 1st Elise Kova I've read, was as expected.

Watership Down by Richard Adams Bunny violence. Well-written bunny violence. Like, maybe, Animal Farm with simultaneously more and less to say. I was afraid it would be a difficult read but it was far from. Felt obligated to read it, as it's a "classic" and my wife had a paperback copy.

I really should write these closer to reading them, my memory is shit, and it's been six months.
