If you convince the one politician to learn the lesson you don't need to convince the thousands of voters you need. Seems easier to convince the one politician to not be shitty.

If a politician knows people are being told to vote no matter what they have no incentive to change so they aren't going to. The politicians need to not be shitty and earn the vote
