If they abandoned their ideology so quickly why assume their feelings were legitimate. It makes more sense to believe they thought, "this won't poll well with our base, oh shit, guess we were wrong".

I totally agree; just important to note that senate democrats were just as responsible for the patriot act and DHS and ice; bush didn’t create those through executive order
