Forgive the unsolicited advice, but for me, stretching especially the back and neck will lessen and, oftentimes, clear a migraine. My migraines came after exercise and tried everything: replace lost water, salts and sugars. Not warning up/stretching before hand was the biggest cause of them.

Yes to stretching, and there's a whole subfield of physical therapy that addresses migraines with stretching and strengthening (the same neuro PTs often address concussions.)

That's interesting as I've never seen it mentioned. I often encourage people to try stretching but appreciate my experience, and even migraines, are not the same as anyone else's. Does feel like there is a musculoskeletal link to them.

It's a pretty small field! There are many more general PTs than neuro PTs (those I'm familiar with did postdoctoral work in neuro clinics, and not a lot of programs offer this training.) A few concussion clinics I know of that have a PT unit also treat people with other headache etiologies.

It's not well known, tho, and getting referred can be a PITA. It might be more common in pediatric medicine; you probably can feel the tight spots and work out about what needs to be done, but kids have either (a) no clue about this or (b) other developmental issues that also need to be addressed

My migraines 100% start in my neck, but anecdote != data

Mine always start behind an eye. Lots of visual aura. Fortunately, mine have died way down since going on blood pressure meds. The last big migraine was a doozy, terrified my family and I got to have a CT scan and see a neurologist because of bizarre side effects (PBA).

I took a body work workshop about migraines and the only reason it's not one of the most useful hours I've spent is that the most effective things cannot be done to oneself

Oh really, what activities worked best? I find that the tendons down the side of my neck become taut and stretching those help a lot along with touching my toes (or as close as I can get to them).

I wouldn't want to try to describe them on social media because they have to do with pressing certain points on/near your neck and head and that seems like a bad thing to incorrectly convey through text.
