I'm not taking my passport on a night out, but I'll have my phone - same motivation for putting credit cards on there too. it's easier

Why not take your passport? I used to when growing up. The cost of replacing an ID card would likely be the same

So the whole country should invest in this so people can buy stuff and show ID? There's a range of IDs that work for this purpose currently
