They are also averse to exercising like Patrick Bateman. Or fastidious grooming. Or higher education and sacrifices for a career. In fact, they only seem to mimic the abuse and cruelty of the character.

Very much this. They think his shitty personality in general is what makes him *him*. But other than the being a nepobaby getting a job at his dad's business, he still had to get higher education and make the career his first priority. Which is kinda also part of what pushes his psyche..

Remember, Bateman isn't the only role model like this. Cartman, the Joker, and the Punisher have no other training or careers leading up to their bad behavior; Cartman is close to an IRL Trumpist, being a lazy, 12-year-old glutton who has achieved nothing beyond "doing what I want."

Not sure about that, if they understood the plot they would get that the root of his psychopathy is that everyone around him, including his family, friends, and coworkers, think he’s a pitiful loser. A lot like Stephen Miller sure, but nothing he does changes that.

mm, I don't think that is explicitly mentioned in the movie, and these guys tend to strongly oppose interpretation of any text beyond the literal. Not saying you're wrong in that interpretation, though I think it's more that the "job" of managing financial capital inherently makes you insane
