I don’t think this changes anything, perhaps Wissa received these assurances (and an outline of a potential acceptable fee) prior to Mbuemo moving. He has a contract with Brentford - that’s the only binding bit of writing that works here. #NUFC www.bbc.co.uk/sport/footba...

If he has a written agreement that they will let him go with an offer of ‘c’ amount doesn’t that override the contract?

Depends what it is (which we don’t know), I’d have thought. I’d imagine there would be a big difference legally between a signed & witnessed document and a potentially throwaway comment in an email. Clearly Brentford don’t think it holds water. He doesn’t have the time to pursue it legally anyway.

I’m not sure Brentford wouldn’t think it will hold water, more likely they feel Wissa isn’t go take pursue it. Lot of money at stake, not often these matters will be pursued legally.

Guess we’ll see how it pans out. It’s looking increasingly likely that both Wissa and Isak will be at their current clubs once this window shuts. We used to just be football fans. In recent years we’ve had to pivot to accountancy and now contract law just to follow along. Sad times.
