Democracy, or what’s left of it here in the “Good Ol’ USA”, requires vigilance, paying attention to what’s going on. Speaking up when/if necessary. If you choose not to pay attention/speak up, be active, so be it. You “gets what yuz pays fer”. So sad but so true.
There is nothing left of it. They have just signed death sentences for everyone who is not one of them.

That’s not democracy. That’s not our country. That’s not our government and justice system. That’s not our rights. That’s not keeping us safe or out of prison. That’s not healthcare, food, or education. The very foundation of all of that is gone.
Disagree. It's your prerogative to choose doom/gloom and do nothing. Don't discourage others from it. Hyperbole and sensationalism help no one.
The country I grew up in no longer exists. That’s a fact. The government I grew up with and have to still teach about no longer exists. This country is no longer a democracy. Those are facts. And you just pretending they aren’t doesn’t change them.

What do I say when explaining the Constitution and rights? The co-equal branches of government? Checks and balances? Limitations of powers? How do I say, with a straight face, that voters choose their government representatives to act on their behalf? Not one of these things is true anymore.
