The dead would’ve been great even without Owsley, he just made them sound better and got them super high. (Not a bad thing either way and he was an instrumental figure obviously but not a creative mastermind)

I don't really get into historical counterfactuals much. A tiny change could make a huge difference. My point though is just there's nothing wrong with taking a rich guys money to make art as long as it's still your art. When that got out of balance for Bear and the Dead, they split.
