KMS Bismarck.
I believe you..how can you tell?
There's a thread somewhere on here where someone showed images of the Bismarck, available for sale on eBay and Etsy, that seem to match this image exactly.
"On here" meaning elsewhere on Bluesky.
Ahhh..thanks! Wow. Thanks
The dazzle pattern on her hull. She also has 2 forward facing main gun turrets and 2 aft facing ones. Most battleships of the time only had 1 aft facing main gun turret.
I would also like to know how you can tell. TIA

Great!..thank you very much. One of the key reasons I lean on Bluesky: people who know what they’re talking about I only know what Johnny Horton told me
Silhouette matches Tirpitz, its sister ship. (Also I'm pretty sure I owned the Revell model kit that had that cover art. Blew up the model with firecrackers simulating its last battle as a kid in the 80s.)
It sank
It was sunk by some anti- fascists (i.e. the Royal Navy).
Right..yes, of course. I’m just curious about how the Bismarck can be i-d’d in that shot. (Just imagine the art that he *didn’t* want behind him..)
There were only two German battleships like it, and the other has different markings. Both were well known Nazi battleships sunk by the allies, though.
Yes, the other being the Tirpitz. Very similar and you'd need someone more expert than me to explain the difference. (PS. I recommend the film 'Sink the Bismarck' with Kenneth More and Dana Wynter. British B+W straight laced story of a battle that cost the lives of many brave young men).
