This old grandma doesn’t know where you live but I would like to suggest Aldi’s if you are near one. Being retired my husband and I save so much money shopping there.

So how do Aldi do it cheaper? And why dont other supermarkets cut their costs and dividends to shareholders
Aldi closes at 8 PM so their hours are more limited. You need a coin for carts so they don’t lose them. They carry mainly staples and weekly changing special items
Their biggest saving is people. Less of them. Check out staff stock shelves at slack times. Self checkout. They have no-one bagging. Produce is in the boxes they were delivered in. No deli. No butchery or bakery. In europe they even have an automated bread baking machine. Only fast moving stock.
They might have no onsite deli, bakery or butcher but they have good selection from all 3.
I love Aldi. Same strategy in Europe, quality food and basics for less $$$s. And even tools to keep Mr. McNeil occupied on the center aisle. All part of the marketing
hehehe there is no Mr. McNeil. I am Dr. McNeil and my partner of 20 years has his very own name. We were shopping Aldi's online then picking it up. However, the percentage they add to to cover the cost of having an employee shop and bag is to much for us so it is back to going to the physical store.
Aldi's does it cheaper by having a small profile store. They don't carry everything. Most of the brands are their brands. They carry some well known brands but are limited. I have found they have 90% of what I have always needed. Anything other than that I will go and get it at Vons...which is rare.
My local Aldi's are poorly managed and the produce goes bad very quickly after purchase because it's clearly not fresh. Not to mention the way it is stored and how customers interact with the produce is sitting in moisture, tossed everywhere... It's gross.
I bought cherries the other day at Aldi, I want to say for about $3 pound? I usually split my shopping w them & BJs, & get a couple things at Walmart bc my youngest is v particular about her chili & pizza. I keep those trips short, w a list. I use the Flipp app to find good grocery deals.
My Aldi’s is amazing. Produce is crisp and fresh. Bakery well stocked. Meats always full like the dairy. I typically do our shopping on Wednesday.
Ours too. And we have a few nearby, so depending on what I'm doing, I can stop at one while I'm out. My family is very fortunate to have so many places to shop for groceries. 🙏🏼
