yes, agreed - it seems like people become authoritarian the more their narcissism is indulged, and one risk factor is rejecting the limits of reality it's why elderly autocrats seem to crash out, once mortality looms so large...
There are fundamental constraints on us at a deeper level than concepts like equity and fairness and all that we are empowered to do is to exist within those constraints as best we are able. That's a hard pill to swallow but spitting it back out turns out to be profoundly unhealthy.
