Covid is airborne: there's no evidence of fomite transmission (i.e. from surfaces). Covid hangs in the air like smoke & lingers in rooms with bad ventilation, hours after infected people have left. Those baggy blue surgical masks are pretty useless anyway - we've been gaslit from the outset by govt.

I think the point being made is that loose-fitting surgical masks don't really do much to prevent you breathing in covid, but can help reduce the spread if you yourself are sick. But if the air is whizzing by the edges of your mask it's not protecting you *much*

Even those baggy, blue ones are useful at prevention of spreading as it catches he’s the droplets well enough. Not as good as the others, but if it’s all you can afford, you use them.

Some people stayed home on the internet during COVID and some people worked at hospitals and saw the carnage. Masks work. N95 were the best for close contact , prolonged exposure but even blue surgical masks were effective for short term exposure to other people.

Better than nothing, sure - but it's true that they're really not made for pandemic purposes and people deserve effective N95s and clear messaging about the differences so they can make informed choices.
