My 20-something said I was lucky I had a career in an era when there was a future, when technology was fun. My intro to computers was writing simple code on a Commodore 64. I became an animator using 3D Studio Max, Alias Wavefront, Maya. Technology changed rapidly, and improvements were exciting.
I raised my kids in STEM activities. Led their robotics teams. Helped them develop a love for technology, too. I didn't understand the scope of destruction that AI would present until the DeviantArt debacle, which involved the initial theft of art.
AI has stolen the creative excitement, that I experienced, from future generations. Young people are losing hope.
This is a plea, to the UK, and to other countries, to challenge AI. You can regulate it. The United States would have to respond. Our corrupt government isn't going to stop AI from destroying creativity in the future, but you can create roadblocks that prevent it from becoming a worldwide problem.
