Those can all be true under competitive authoritarianism. The regime does not have to have complete control (hence "competitive"), only enough to stack the playing field against the opposition.

I think directionality matters, too, in two ways: 1. Which way are we going? (It’s only been 8 months) 2. Is anyone meaningfully stopping the slide? I think the answer to 2 for me is despite Zack’s insistence that there is feee opposition they are effectively powerless.
