Just to further add.... you can trace that back to the ref letting things go because this was hyped up into some sort of grudge match. Thankfully VVD didn`t end up with a snapped ankle. When refs refuse to control the game, they lose control of it.

Just before the goal as well he lets Bruno wipe out Curtis edge of the box too
Wild, hadnt seen that before
pretty sure there's a similar image somewhere for Doku on Macca but 10 seconds of googling didn't find it.
That's the one the FA used to indicate what a dangerous high tackle looked like, despite it not actually being given as a foul and penalty, let alone red card, on the pitch.
The irony. "This is a textbook red card" (unless on a Liverpool player)
It was reviewed by VAR (obvs) and despite previous experience, I was convinced at minimum would be penalty and yellow card, so *extremely* blatant was it.
I’ve a feeling the ref is just going to let Joelinton spend the second half kicking Liverpool players
So... nothing will change then is what you are saying
Correct but now with even more impunity as Hooper not going to give a second yellow
as clear a red as you will ever see mate anyone who has kicked a ball at any level knows that and for once VAR actually worked like it should
