Isn’t this what he said Putin told him to do at their Alaska meeting?
Isn’t this what he said Putin told him to do at their Alaska meeting?
America’s deployed Armed Services should not vote, that’s what the sitting president is saying
I find it simpler just to translate Trump’s social media posts as the exact opposite of what he’s written, as that usually corresponds fairly closely to reality.
And the states are not “merely agents of the federal government” when it comes to elections. Not only is there a little thing called federalism but Article I, Section 4 of the Constitution says states control “the time, place and manner” of elections” (subject to Congress making changes.
This isn’t gibberish. This is him moving quickly to end democracy while everyone who can do something has done nothing.
a mix of gibberish and easily disproved lies, since many countries have mail-in voting I wonder if major outlets will lead with "Trump posts multiple lies about voting" or not
Okay yeah that leaped out at me. I was like "that can't be right" but I had to admit I wasn't sure! But of course it's a lie.
yes, because media outlets looking for cover can wave away most of the other lies as "political speech" or "a matter of opinion", but that one's just a straight-up lie, no possible excuses
there's a bitter irony in a man with absolutely no curiosity, no intellect, and zero regard for the truth holding the office that gives the office-holder the greatest access to factual information of anyone in the world George W. Bush was just a faint foreshadowing
Practically speaking, it's more important that many many Republican-run places have mail voting, because obviously it is easy and good and anyone with any sense would use it. Various Secretaries of State are sighing so hard right now.
This is the man who occupies the office of President, leader of the free world, a pedophile, a cheater, a phony, a conman, a liar, a treasonous traitor, who holds the nuclear codes, who will, today, negotiate the future existence of another country millions of people’s lives. What have we done?
Also this cunt has voted by mail many times.
He can't really do anything about how states run their own elections. Also he can fuck off, we've been voting by mail for ages and it works perfectly fine, he just refuses to accept that he lost because he fucked up the COVID response.
This is what I hear in my head every time he speaks or writes
Lol Sweden mails a ballot to every citizen to fill out.
That’s how it is in Colorado. The envelopes they send with it for return clearly state that voter fraud is a felony and you will be prosecuted. It wasn’t fantastic - I never missed an opportunity to vote no matter how busy life was at the time.
*it WAS fantastic.*
California also mails ballots to everyone. NZ is the best though - you can vote online. Guess nobody has tried to hack their elections....
Yeah, crazy how we can renew our passports, TSA Precheck, perform background checks, pay taxes, etc online but a vote is going to be a massive security issue.
Switzerland as well
it will be interesting to see how fox decides to cover this because my guess is it will violate the terms of their settlement... apnews.com/article/fox-...
update, more than one settlement agreement bsky.app/profile/npr....
Not the point but I refuse to believe he knows the word “semblance” and how to use it correctly.
Oh sure, but this is an old phenomenon we know even from first term. Sometimes he just straight-up posts on his own but often it's obvious it's been cleaned up by somebody, or that he was dictating. They tend to preserve his STYLE while making something that's at least GRAMMATICAL, more-or-less.
This plus the OMON like force he has created is the rehearsal for midterm election where he will consolidate power; it is Putin script, Orban script, Erdogan script, Netanyahu script. Next 7 to 10 years are going to be grimmer than now.
nah. I mean he wants to do that, but pulling it off in America is especially difficult and Trump doesn't have the juice or resources to do it
Really? He steamrolled thru everything. There will be curfews and his pretorian guard out materially stopping people from voting. They will discard votes as fake. It is already here. Scary people don't see it because has not affected them yet. I was in Russia early 2000, saw the same process going.
There isn't really federal policing in the US. States are run separately in a lot of ways, for better and for worse. The resources needed to pull off what you describe is impossible in the timeframe suggested (agreed about trump steamrolling but America is BIG and states are run semi-independently)
They can do it. It is easier than people think. They already dropping "law enforcement" made of last minute hired people with zero background check using national guard etc. America is way more fragile than majority of American think. He is 80, but his fellows are young.
Are you American? I'm not trying to insult you or understate how bad Trump is but I really don't think people truly understand how fragmented yet massive the institutions needed to control are. Too many factions
A hot take I will add her is that both worst case and not worst case scenarios are possible and we should strive for the not
ya
You don’t need to control everyone. Just a little and it has a nationwide chilling effect
Vance doesn’t have the charisma to be a dictator
Vance doesn’t have the charisma to win town selectman
Nor Putin. I always said that Trump is a Yeltsin and Vance has the same Putin kinda of vibe. Trump behind has planners; he is just main character. Putin was put there by Sergey Kiriyenko who is still real Russia mastermind. My take of course and hope I am wrong.
I think historical lessons are valuable and we are in fraught times but the cultural and socioeconomic underpinnings of the US in 2025 and Russia 20 yrs after the Soviet Union collapsed couldn't be more different (notable is that Russia was lead by a single man for majority of its recent history)
America is extremely large, the police forces too disparate and small. They will do real harm but mostly through encouraged malice and widespread incompetence
American society doesn’t devolve into chaos not because we have widespread use of security forces but because people choose to abide by the law. The risk has always been that the social contract falls apart
yes
All they have to do is declare some BS immigration/crime emergency in a couple of cities in a couple of swing states on election day. That would be more than enough to throw the election.
These are 4 people who all came to power in different ways and outside a couple of broad strokes, share little in common. Please stop spreading your hardly informed opinion, you bring no analytical insight and are just being a doomer.
Conservative Republicanism in 2025 is "the States are merely an agent for the Federal Government." Took just one insane politician to flip their entire theory of government 180⁰. Astonishing how hollow their "principles" always were.
But, once again, no one is talking about the Epstein files today.
What a tool
What’s new ?
Mail-in-ballots are the only normal thing in the American voting system. The weirdest thing is the Electoral College, and what truly fucks everything up is "winner takes it all". But your voter suppression mechanisms are second to none. Like needing to register in advance as an X or Y-voter. WTF?
This sounds like disinfo that Putin fed him
Putin did not feed him this. This is Trump trying to win in 31/2 years.
Why TF do you, ANY OF YOU, believe Trump when he tells you things? Putin came out to the press conference and didn’t say shit about voting in US. He doesn’t give a fuck about mail-in ballots. Trump, has one agenda: to win. He is using a made up story and a false call to authority to make own point
This sounds like the bullshit he’s been spouting for years
Blah blah blah. EPSTEIN EPSTEIN
Ok let’s play: where’s the evidence of “massive fraud” from mail-in voting? Should be simple, yes?
That plus ICE at every big city polling location is definitely his midterms plan.
there are literally hundreds of thousands of voting locations in the US, I really don't think full doomers truly understand the resources needed to pull off the stuff they just hand wave as "Trump's plans!!!"
even with ramped staffing and perfect logistics, a handful of ICE grunts milling around every individual polling location will likely be counterproductive
The idea probably that months of videos of these thugs tackling random people will do enough work that people will think twice about going anywhere they might encounter them.
yeah that could be the plan. Travel is down as is activity/traffic in places where ICE has been doing raids. So it's working to an extent, I just don't think the suppression effect will outweigh the negative polarization that will come from Trump announcing he plans to alter elections at gunpoint
I'm not saying it's a good plan, but it's one they definitely want to try.
I actually want them to try it
If nothing else, Trump is giving some great photos for whatever becomes the history books of about this era.
I actually hope he tries it and announces it in advance, we might end up seeing the highest turnout midterm in US history Also, as an aside, GOP voters are now the low propensity demographic. People still think it's the same as it was 20-30 years ago, instead of a complete flip
Yeah man it's crazy that the GOP apparatus are so dumb to hurt their own voters what they are doing is hurting their own voters not the left. Crazy man. Dont they know they are hurting themselves they are hurting their own voters and not city lefties when they target big cities with these tactics.
Maybe James Carville is telling them it's still 1992 as well.
No doubt the other part of it is to reduce the number of voting locations to the single digit thousands. They've been trying that already, after all.
If we're talking 28 and not midterms you don't need a massive operation, you probably just need a few dozen people each in Detroit, Philadelphia, Atlanta, and Madison and you're good to go. Trump sent 100 dudes and some trucks to the Newsom press conference last week.
Just in D precincts with majority voters of colors.
It makes no sense for voters to be intimidated by ICE at polling locations, given they will hugely outnumber them, and all be citizens.
I'm not arguing that it's ok for them to be there, or that this is good. I'm arguing that voters should not and will not be intimidated, and that this will be nice to see. Are white voters who hate tariffs going to suddenly vote GOP just because cosplaying mall ninjas are outside with guns?
These are people claiming illegal immigrants are voting en masse and swinging elections. We know it’s bullshit, but they’ll use it as a justification to harass legally voting citizens who happen to be brown.
if you think that will stop them voting, then you have a dim view of them on the whole. I think these things often make people more defiant.
If your grandpa sent you this you would check in with the nursing home to make sure he’s ok
Who the fk has time to read all that? Putin must have really spooked him.
Delusional dementia
And this is exactly why the people who have been saying their won’t be fair elections in the future have been right, despite others saying they are wrong. It may be gibberish but the SC will side with him
"The States are mere agents that must do what the president wants..." I think it's now clear that the small government party bullshit has always been a lie.
"They must do what the Federal Government, as represented by the President of the United States, tells them, FOR THE GOOD OF OUR COUNTRY, to do." America's dad: "Because I said so!"
Tell me something I don't already know.
“Article II, Section 1, Clause 2: Each State shall appoint, in such Manner as the Legislature thereof may direct, a Number of Electors, equal to the whole Number of Senators and Representatives to which the State may be entitled in the Congress”
It's weird how "states' rights" are only a thing when the Democrats are in power.
He (president Epstein) is correct about the U.S. being the only country that allows mail in voting except for: • Germany • Iceland • Liechtenstein • Luxembourg • Poland • Switzerland • United Kingdom • Austria • Ireland • Netherlands • Slovenia • Spain • Lithuania To name a few…
And unconstitutional just like the previous EO on elections back in March. Of course, lame-ass media just had to run with the threat before checking reality.
Demented cognitive functioning always shows up in language
Re'rend!
I like that his resolve to stop posting in all-caps after the Newsom trolls broke halfway through this rant
Presidential gibberish
It's also an obvious lie that no other country uses mail-in votes. Not that anyone cares.
I get that the answer is “No”, but has literally anyone in our vaunted Fourth Estate asked him what the fuck the phrase “Transgender for everyone” is supposed to mean.
They didn’t even ask when he said your boy jimmy came home from school a girl many times during his rallies. 🤬
This isn’t the first time he’s said it! It’s weird! Perhaps a journalist should ask a few dozen clarifying questions?
Oh no, they can't ask that...they may upset herr DUMPENSTEIN
But voting machines as a concept DO suck. They always did. It's crazy that a mature democracy uses them. www.youtube.com/watch?v=LkH2...
bsky.app/profile/leah...
Utter bullsnot
Yes, I’m sure handcounting paper ballots will lead to same-night results nationwide, because like our President I too am as dumb as a box of rocks.
He’s panicking once again. And so his cultists will panic. But Epstein isn’t going anywhere.
Setting the stage for election interference.
Wait until all his rich old white people can't get to the polls
The rich ones will get there easily; they have $ to pay for transportation, etc. It’s his far more numerous poor old white supporters who will have difficulty.
The poor ones will get exactly what they voted for
This reads like he's drunk.
As someone who voted by mail in the most recent German election something about this statement from a pathological liar seems to be shockingly untrue?!
I just want to say one word to you. Just one word. Are you listening? Paper.
the parade of propaganda. Happy Monday.
Another Trump distraction from his failure to release the Epstein files UNREDACTED, moving Maxwell to a Club Fed prison camp, his abject failure to end Russia’s war on Ukraine on Day 1, his failure to bring down the cost of groceries- his record of Promises Made Promises Broken- on & on & on🤬
Dangerous gibberish. Republicans have long viewed power as a birthright and they now have a complete moron in the WH to help them achieve it.
Donald Trump doesn't get to dictate how states run their elections.
He is the first GOP POTUS to win Nevada since the 1990s and NV was a massive mail in vote state. Just another GOP hypocrisy that most Americans go "meh, now on to UFC" to.
American capacity to accept being blatantly and hilariously serial lied to at a 3rd grade level, and absorb humiliation appears to be boundless.
He keeps trying to resurface old talking points and republican outrages like paper ballots and Hilary's emails to distract from releasing the Epstein files hoping his base will bite again
Yes because he’s crazy
Putin told him he's going to lose the midterms.
Well, Putin knows a lot less about our elections than WE do, and WE could have told Trump that lol.
If he ever strokes out and remains in office in a coverup, these tweets will continue.
trump all cranky he might not be able to fondle women in voting booths anymore
