If I was so concerned about this perception, I would simply not embrace the perspective of the people I am so sensitive about being associated with.

I mean he's just not a Republican, dude. You can say you don't like his takes or that his commentary has the effect of being harmful to democrats or helpful to republicans but he advocates for and supports democratic candidates. Just don't lie about him is all.
But since Lakshya liked the above post I'll reiterate this one here as well... bsky.app/profile/man-...
Alternatively, you could understand that people can have disagreements on things while being pretty explicit about *how* they identify, instead of lying.
If you (or anyone else) shows through revealed preference that they are aligned with Republicans, then I don't care what you (or they) profess to be. You can get mad about the verb I chose, but the meaning was pretty clear.
What is the point of digging in and being a dick about this? What about the last year has possibly shown that purity testing and shrinking the coalition is a winning strategy?
I mean, if you believe that someone is a Republican despite openly saying they're a Democrat, that they vote for Democrats (and post pictures of their ballot marked as such), and despite them fundraising for Democrats, then you're just lost in the head.
Okay!
I don't really get the value of calling someone a Republican even if they are a moderate Democrat or think Democrats should move to the rignt rhetorically.
I think we should just interrogate the demented thought process that has him outright saying, over and over, that he prefers Nazi bots and people who’ll call him slurs to “liberals who disagree with men.” Can he hear himself?
I think Jain's takes on bluesky are bad but AOC also hasn't posted here in a month. Is she a Republican lol
No and neither is he. But he needs a level set on where the horizon is.
I don't think lying about someone is going to suddenly motivate someone to leave Twitter, and I say that as someone who thinks everyone left of center should ditch it.
That’s fine. But him also not being full of shit to himself about what this site is is also a necessary thing here.
The goalposts keep moving "People who vote Republican are Republicans" "People who want Dems to move to the center are Republicans" "People who think centrism will win Democrats more elections are Republicans" "People who prefer Twitter to Bluesky are Republicans"
I’m not here to defend George’s post. He can do that. I’m here to say Jain is being an ass and I wish he would not be.
Kind of a funny take, given this whole thread started with George being a bit of an ass.
Again: this doesn’t work because the other place being objectively worse isn’t changed by George or me being an ass or not.
I agree with the original thing Lakshya posted, disagree that posting it indicates that he's a Republican, and don't think preferring Twitter to Bluesky (a site where everyone calls him a Republican, for saying Dems are bad at messaging [a thing we all agree on]) makes him a Republican
don't think preferring a Nazi-riddled & owned hellsite to Bluesky where for some inexplicable reason the people on whose side he is putatively on yells at him makes him a Republican? ok, "Nazi-enabling idiot." Vichy Dem? Is that better?
Great. I agree. He’s also still saying really stupid shit and that’s the only point I’ve ever advanced. I want his takes here and he’s steeling himself up to run off and that’s misguided.
He needs to be compelled to defend himself. All of the political prognosticator class do. Whatever there their methods, they are subject to criticism and need to stop being defensive about it, but explain, reflect and be able to adjust when warranted. Nate Silver should be a cautionary tale.
s/Republican/Conservative/ and definitely checks out.
