I think why this has rattled so many establishment Democrats so badly is that Zohran isn’t simply running for office - he is running for an EXECUTIVE office. I think if a DSA (or otherwise progressive anti-machine) candidate was running a successful campaign for Senate rn they’d be less hysterical.

They are relatively content with progressives and socialists as minority coalition partners in a legislative setting - but the thought of somebody on the left actually *leading* at any level of government is truly horrific to them. Any real power concessions are beyond the pale.
