Gawker was salty, and certainly not bound by the sort of journalistic norms that outlets like the network news, New York Times or Washington Post used to adhere to in the before times. But they were a legit news outlet with an edge, and that lawsuit was completely contrived just to destroy them.

Yeah, I'm not saying Gawker was right. I'm saying that he was a pawn of Thiel, one of the worst oligarchs in the country.

Yeah we're definitely in agreement here. The funny thing is that for all his staunch conservatism, Tolkien would likely be appalled by the man who stole so many Middle Earth names to give to his asshole projects.
