bafta are the one set of game awards that pass the mum test as well. she doesn't have a clue what the game awards or whatever are, but she's thrilled that rollerdrome won a bafta. a BAFTA!!

I totally get that, my mother is probably pretty similar. I can't speak for BAFTAs, but I know the Oscars were created to union bust the industry. Having something that only you can give that workers wants, creates a massive power imbalance that can pressure people to work a certain way.

yeah nah don't worry i'm not married to the thing. it's a nice club to be a part of, the asking price is a bit high.... but i've not thought too deep on it otherwise. case in point, didn't know that about the oscars, yikes!
